A†A JURATE MARIJA (SKUCAS) SHUKIS (1923–2019). Jurate Marija (Skucas) Shukis passed away on January 20, 2019 in San
Jose, California, at the age of 95.

She was married to Sylvester (Albert) Shukis for 59 years. He passed away in 2005. Jurate was born September 21, 1923 in Kalvarija, Lithuania. She moved to New York City in 1947 with her husband and started a family. Jurate is survived by one son: Kazys Shukis and his wife Claudia, two grandchildren: Sarah Roseen and Carolyn Spain, five great grandchildren: Aidan Spain, Ariana Spain, Isabella Spain, Noah Roseen and Molly Roseen. She was predeceased by her father, Secretary of Interior Kazys Skucas; mother, Stefanija (Bagdonas) Skucas; sister, Birute (Skucas) Sidzikauskas; husband, Sylvester (Albert) Shukis and son Juozas (Joe) Shukis.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. The service will be private and her ashes will be interned in Lithuania at a later date.
